Hey, Resilientites! I’m Naketa Ross, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to the Resilient Life blog, where we dive deep into the transformative power of resilience. Whether you're here for the first time or you've been with us for a while, you're in the right place to discover the tools and insights that will help you build a stronger, more resilient life. My purpose is simple: to guide you toward living your best life by empowering you with the strategies and mindset shifts needed to connect with and enhance your resilience. Let’s embark on this journey together—because you’re stronger than you think, and your best life is within reach.
In this week’s inspiring conversation, we had the honor of speaking with Dr. JaNee Mobley, affectionately known as Dr. JaNee. A coach and mentor. Dr. JaNee is passionate about helping others build profitable businesses while overcoming mindset barriers that hinder progress, prosperity, and profit.
Redefining Resilience
Resilience is often misunderstood as an effortless ability to bounce back from adversity. However, as Dr. JaNee shared, true resilience is deeply personal. It involves walking through life’s greatest challenges and discovering the lessons hidden in each season. Sharing her own journey of homelessness and job loss, she revealed how her relationship with Jesus Christ, self-work, and a supportive community became her foundation for building resilience.
Her perspective challenges the misconception that resilience means breezing through challenges unscathed. Instead, she emphasized that resilience is built in the moments of struggle when we face adversity head-on, develop skills, and emerge stronger.
The Role of Mindset in Success
Dr. JaNee highlighted the powerful role of mindset in shaping our lives. She described how a lack mindset—rooted in self-doubt and limiting beliefs—can hold us back, even when we consciously desire success. The shift toward a mindset of prosperity begins with recognizing that we deserve success and can achieve it.
As she eloquently stated, "When you build yourself, building the business will be easier." This lesson extends beyond entrepreneurship, applying to personal and professional growth. Whether you're aiming to excel in your career or become the best version of yourself, it all starts with inner work.
Representation and Empowerment
Representation matters. Dr. JaNee's work resonates deeply because she occupies a space where Black women can see themselves reflected. Her presence provides a sense of connectedness and cultural understanding that enhances her impact. I discussed with Dr. JaNee, "I want to be surrounded by women who are saying, 'I want to feel as beautiful on the inside as I do on the outside.'"
This conversation underscored the importance of not just projecting an image of success but fostering internal wholeness. Healing and self-acceptance are essential to showing up fully for ourselves and others.
Practical Tools for Growth
Dr. JaNee emphasized the importance of acknowledging where we are before taking steps forward. Her simple yet transformative framework—Acknowledge, Decide, and Act (ADA)—can help us challenge negative self-talk and step out of our comfort zones. She urged listeners to recognize their value, take purposeful action, and persevere through discomfort.
For those struggling to connect with their inner child or confront past trauma, Dr. JaNee reminded us that healing starts with acknowledgment. "You cannot heal something that you don’t acknowledge is wrong," she said. Facing our pain allows us to grow, move forward, and experience joy.
Final Thoughts: Implementing the Lessons; Dr. JaNee left us with a powerful call to action: Choose one thing. From the wealth of insights and strategies shared in this conversation, identify a single takeaway that resonated with you and implement it. Change happens through action, and even the smallest steps can lead to meaningful transformation.
